Craigville Bible Church Covenant Purpose of Covenant: The Purpose of a Church Covenant is that expectations for members and leaders are communicated and agreed upon by both parties. Members must know what is expected of them as they join this church family. A Church Covenant is NOT: A lifetime commitment A legal contract which requires you to give financially to the church A set of rules so if you break them the Elders have a reason to kick a member out. A list of expectations which the elders will use to micromanage your life.
*****It is a set of expectations for how someone who is trying to (and at times fails to) live their life for Jesus, acts in a Church community.***** Craigville Bible Church Membership Covenant: I am accountable and committed to Jesus and other church members. (1 Peter 5:1-5, Gal 6:10, Gal 6:1-2, Phil 2:3-4, 2 Thess 3:15, Heb 12:15)
I will keep Church leadership accountable to Biblical standards while also submitting to their leadership (1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:3-9, Hebrews 13:17, Galatians 2:11-14)
I agree with the church’s articles of faith and constitution. (1 Corinthians 1:10, Romans 12:16; 14:19, 1 Cor 13:7, 2 Cor 12:20, Eph 4:3-6, Phil 2:3, 1 Thess 5:13, 2 Thess 3:11, James 3:18; 4:11)
I will be charitable to the church and other members about doctrinal and theological secondary issues taught or not taught at the church that I may not concur with. (Romans 14, Proverbs 17:14, Matt 5:9, 1 Cor 10:32; 11:16, 2 Cor 13:11, Phil 2:1-3)
I will strive to live my life in a way that Glorifies God and represents Him well. (1 Cor 10:31, Col 3:17, Phil 3:12-14)
I will do my best to use my time, talents, and resources (physical and financial) that God has blessed me with to help the church succeed in its mission, vision, and values. (Acts 2:42-45, 1 Cor 12, Romans 12:3-8, Ephesians 4:10-16, Pro 6:9, Mal 3:10, Luke 6:38, 1 Cor 16:1, 2 Cor 9:7) I will love, care for, and help others grow closer to Jesus despite my own preferences and traditions about church and ministry. (Matt 25:40, John 12:8, Acts 15:36, Rom 12:13; 15:26, 1 Cor 16:1-2, Gal 2:10;6:10, Heb 13:16, James 1:27, 1 John 3:17, 1 Cor 9:20-22, Matthew 12:1-13, Hosea 6:6) I will strive to be involved with my church family on a regular basis in addition to being a regular attender for Worship Service. (Acts 2:42-45, Acts 4:32-37, Hebrews 10:25, Exodus 20:8)
During times of voting, I will prayerfully consider the options, consult scripture, and if needed, seek godly counsel so my vote will be made in good conscience. (Psalm 1, Proverbs 1:5, 11:14, 12:15, 15:22, 2 Cor 3:5-8)
